If you're running behind (like me) and have yet to send holiday cards, you might decide to make just a few special ones for people you don't see throughout the year in real life or via social media. In other words, trim your list. Here's an idea for a unique quilled Christmas card that requires very little quilling, so it goes together quite quickly and can be safely mailed in a regular envelope with a bit of bubble wrap placed over the ornament.

Here's an idea for a unique Christmas card that the recipient just might decide to frame as a holiday decoration. That sounds like a fine idea to me as then it can be enjoyed for years to come. The triangular corners are reminiscent of a retro photo album. Whether you are a long-time quiller or have had it in mind to give paper shaping a try, you'll find inspiring projects to launch you on the path of creating gift-worthy necklaces and earrings.

While visiting Craftgawker recently, my eye was drawn to a clever paper diamond ring. The link took me to Dreamy Posy , a paper crafting site started by blogger and video content creator Anh in Vietnam. Not only are her photos gorgeous, but her videos are brief, detailed, and a joy to watch. Believe it or not, Anh is new to paper crafts, but the quality of her work tells me she's a natural! "As I live in the East and don't know what Western people think or which seasonal crafts are suitable to make at this time, I make with my own inspiration." I asked her to share a tutorial here as a way of introducing her website and YouTube channel . Luckily for us, she agreed right away and designed this free-form bouquet of paper gerbera daisies, dusty miller and baby's breath, just right for a rustic wedding. Last week was filled with final editing of my newest quilling book for Interweave that will be out in early September. After the manuscript was turned in, it was time to do a much-needed organization of my paper craft supplies.... a fresh start, if you will, similar to that wonderful free feeling when exams wrap up at the end of the semester.    In a box of finished projects, I came across this card I don't think I've posted before. It's a pretty quick one to make and just right for this time of year here in Delaware when birds are chirping and a breeze is blowing.

Last year toward the end of December when the holiday rush was winding down, I made a couple of paper craft projects I'd been itching to do all season long. These little paper houses were tops on my list. I'd noticed handmade dioramas of decorated rooms on Etsy in the lead up to Christmas and was excited to see the creator, paper engineer Helen Friel , featured on the Etsy UK blog. Not only that, but the Etsy post included a template provided by her to make an irresistible tiny house. Sadly, it is no longer available although Helen has posted a few other freebie downloads on her website. Thanks Helen!

The crazy-warm weather we've enjoyed in Delaware this week has me thinking of summer days, the beach and a quilled jewelry tutorial I've been meaning to post here ever since the paper crafting site Folding Trees closed its doors. This was actually my very first quilling tutorial and was shared there as a guest post, so I'm happy to be able to give it a homecoming of sorts here on ATP. It was the first of many quilled jewelry tutorials I've written since launching the blog... this month is its seventh anniversary!

Long-time readers might remember these two quilling 101 projects I originally created for the Inspired Bride website. I've updated/simplified my instructions to show you exactly how to create the most basic quilled flower with leaves... pretty on place cards and favor boxes.
