Issey Miyake-Inspired Paper Jewelry from Mayumi Origami
Regarding To Issey, Mayumi told me, "When I found this Chiyogami Washi pattern in Japan, it immediately reminded me of the iconic Issey Miyake Bao Bao bags. I then decided to create a collection that would fit the symmetry of not only this beautiful paper, but also the absolutely incredible work of this Japanese fashion designer. It's a way to show how inspiring Issey Miyake has been to my work."
She went on to say, "The To Issey model is an Origami Modular construction that is made with three 4cm paper squares. And to complement the long shape, I combine it with long sterling silver hooks."
To Issey earrings and necklaces are available in three smart colorways. Ear hooks and necklace chains are offered in .925 silver or 24 carat gold-plated sterling.
As for the newest patterned paper, Mayumi says, "The new Blue 434 pattern is already a huge success!"
"My customers have always asked me for a pattern to be matched with silver and this is the one."
Here are the many high-quality paper choices Mayumi offers... an array that ranges from bright and bold to soft pastels. Each pattern features gold or silver metallic touches.
Mayumi's threader earrings swing and sway so gracefully.
Mayumi hand folds the Iris style in six rich colors. The gold option is beautifully textured, and there is also an Iris necklace.
