Stephanotis Tutorial from The New Art of Paper Flowers

With so many gorgeous flowers in the world, it's tempting to create a crepe paper version of each one. A book that has just been released today, The New Art of Paper Flowers by Quynh Nguyen, is a 272 page beauty! I'm pretty certain that many of the thirty crepe paper choices aren't ones you've seen in other flower making books. For example, Night Blooming Cereus, Snowberry Twig, and Italian Butterfly Ranunculus might not be household names, yet they are lovely.

Perhaps you're already familiar with author Quynh via her website, Pink and Posey, or the podcast she co-hosts about paper flowers called Paper Talk (not to be confused with Helen Hiebert's podcast of the same name that often leans more toward paper making). Not only does Quynh provide detailed tutorials in the book, but she shows how to use the blooms in bouquets, as home decor, and even as wearable art.

The publisher, Blue Star Press, allowed me to select a sample project to show here. I chose stephanotis for a couple of reasons: 1. It is a small but mighty flower that is a wonderful filler in arrangements. 2. The deep green foliage is a pretty contrast against the bright white flowers, and oops, make that three reasons - I'm sentimental, so 3. They were in my wedding bouquet. If you already know how to make a few types of paper flowers, stephanotis is a great little workhorse that will round out your bouquets nicely.
