Quilled Sheep Baby Gift Card

Home from a few days away... right before leaving I realized I was in need of a card to accompany a baby gift. The son and daughter-in-law of friends have a brand new baby boy… welcome to the world, little one!

I set to work on a quilled card that I could tie onto the gift bag's handle, taking liberal inspiration from the printed fluffy sheep. It was fun to root through my supplies and I really enjoyed quilling again...something I hadn't made time for in quite a while.

I wish my efforts had paid off in a design that looked as cute as the original... ah well, I enjoyed the process and that's what it's all about. My overly chubby quilled sheep looks disgruntled, out of shape, and clearly in need of a shearing… I'm afraid I got carried away rolling coils.

I happened to have the scalloped heart on hand… years ago I had cut out quite a few from printer paper using scallop-edge scissors and ran them through a paper crimper for a hospice event. I'm glad I'd saved the extras as it made for a nice background for a top-fold heart cut from light blue pearlescent paper... folded so I could write a note to the parents inside.

To quill the wool, I used silver edge bright white 1/8” strips from Quilled Creations to make loose coils. For his face and legs, I used Quilled Creations 1/8" grey strips, along with teeny bits of pink and black to create a nose and mouth. The little google eyes were from my stash and add to his goofy expression. Of course Amazon sells them in all sizes.

Even though this little project was definitely not my shining moment, it's always a good time to spend a few relaxing hours doing what you love (just wish I'd had time for a do over)!
