Etsy Paper-Themed Design Awards Finalists

Enjoy a look at this year's Etsy Design Awards Finalists that include paper in their production. I had the best time scrolling through the list to pick out the paper nominees and thought you might like to see them also. There is such creativity in this world!

 

 

But before we go down the paper trail, humor me while I show you this dress that was nominated in the Wedding Style category. Granted, it is fabric, not paper, but I can't resist sharing... a custom made pleated wedding gown. Wouldn't it be perfect for an paper artist?! Reev Bridal is owned by Daria in Kyiv City, Ukraine, who also makes a stunning smocked gown with folds that are reminiscent of origami tessellations.

 

And just one more wedding item to go hand in hand with the dress. Dimetra in Athens, Greece makes clever origami rose invitation sleeves and offers a number of other folded paper styles, as well as beautiful origami ornaments. Have a look in her shop, Hopacho. 

Here are the 2023 finalists, starting with two artists whose work you might recognize as they have been featured here and here on All Things Paper in the past. 

 

First, we have Mayumi Fukuda's Iris Short Earrings. Mayumi's shop is Mayumi Origami in Leipzig, Germany where she lists so many original and pretty styles of origami jewelry.

 

 

And then there are Anne Louval's perfectly detailed Christmas Village luminaries made of sturdy wood-grain cardstock. Her shop, Belgian Paperworks in Graton, California, is filled with an array of charming paper houses. 

 

This ingenious Kasa Pendant Lamp by Marina and Fumio Hirakawa of 24dstudio in Kobe, Japan is made with wavy, interlocking strips of laminated rice paper that create a double layer without glue or connectors. It is available in five pastel colors. Additional handsome lampshades in the shop are well worth a look. 

 

 

A one-of-a-kind personalized gift is quite special for a celebratory occasion because the individual or couple knows it was created just for them. This finely detailed custom papercut map by Yang Cuevo of Paperhugger Studio in Chicago would be ideal as a wedding, engagement, or anniversary gift.

 

 

Mary Chau in Vancouver, Canada creates custom paper portraits that capture personalities. She will do families, wedding parties, pets, and more... see examples in her shop, Minii Moments. I'm glad Mary made a process video of the countless steps that go into one of her cut paper portraits.

 

This is the second time Bryony Fripp's Personalised Love Stories Illustrated Map that features memories, landmarks, and dates has been selected as a finalist. I can see why as it's a very popular seller. There are many equally unique things to see in her London shop, bryonyfripp.

 

 

Lastly, here's another lovely customized item, a destination wedding guest book with a birch wood cover from Fira Studio in Leicester, United Kingdom. Choose the size and number of paper pages, endpaper color, as well as an optional personalized message that will be laser engraved on the back cover.

The listing with the most hearts will win the People's Pick Award.

 

Actress Sarah Jessica Parker and Etsy’s Dayna Isom Johnson will handpick this year's Grand Prize Award and Category Award winners. Past Grand Prize awardees will judge a new category called Winners’ Choice Award. All winners will be announced in late July.
