12 Extra Special Christmas and Hanukkah Cards
I'm the first to admit that when it comes to holiday cards, I'm pretty choosy. Because I'm in touch with friends and family throughout the year thanks to social media and email, my list is quite short... and for this reason I'm okay with spending a little more on the few cards I do buy rather than grabbing just anything at my local discount store come mid-December.
While I was looking for a unique card to send this year, I narrowed down my choices and then had the thought, why not share them with you too? Perhaps all my clicking around on Etsy will save you a bit of time in the busiest season of the year.
From Megan at the Gotcha Covered Team of GCNotebooksShop in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania comes this pretty laser cut trees, snowflakes, and cardinals card set complete with full color envelopes. Free shipping too!
Liifpopupcard in San Francisco just has this one Hanukkah pop up card, but it's lovely. And of course they offer many other designs for all year round.
GoodCauseGreetings supports homeless pets via this adorable Skating Cats card. Shop owner Cathy in Massachusetts proclaims these as cards that give twice... it's hard to argue with a portion of your purchase going toward a good cause. There are lots of pawsome designs to choose from, many of which were created by Pennsylvania artist Meg Auchenbach. Free shipping too!
Lara and Bil Pendergast in upstate New York are the owners, designers, and makers of all the neat things that fill shop SweetBellaStationery. Since I showed you skating cats, it's only fair to give dog lovers an equal opportunity...
But first, cue the oohs and ahhs... meet newborn Ridley! One of my sons and his wife will be welcoming this little Australian Shepherd puppy into their home right after Christmas...
...so of course I gravitated to Sending Christmas Kisses. But then I had to flip a coin when I spotted Peace, Joy & Wags as it's mighty cute too. Quite a few dog breeds are available in the shop along with Aussie cards.
Artist Jocelyn Boblink of SaxonBlueInk in Indiana works in conjunction with artists Jared Barlow and Glenna Barlow Fennell to fill the shop with elegant cards that are printed professionally on high quality stock. The message of A Thrill of Hope is always a phrase that resonates with me as life would be pretty dismal if we didn't have hope, not to mention I love the pen and ink design.
With more than 138,000 sales, Etsy shop PamelaZagarenski in Connecticut is a force to be reckoned with. A picture book artist and painter, Pamela creates each card design, front and back, from an original painting. In other words, the card (above) would be folded in half vertically. They are printed in an environmentally conscious print house on recycled paper, plus the envelopes are made with recycled materials and the cellophane sleeves are compostable. This set is called Conspiracy of Love.
No matter whether you live where it's hot and dry or cold and snowy, you'll find a frameable card that's just right for each person on your list.
Quilling Card cards are truly second to none with exceptional quilling and appealing designs. Honestly, it would take me close to a full day to complete a card so perfectly!
FYI, there are a number of handy Etsy-curated gift guides. For example, Gifts $25 or less with Free Shipping has some very neat ideas. I love to give personalized items and because both of my daughters-in-law are avid readers, I'm sure they could put a book embosser from Pickled Stamps to good use when loaning out their favorites.
Perhaps you prefer to make your own cards and to that I say, go for it! Recipients will feel extra special knowing you spent time making something special just for them. In need of ideas? Here are some of my favorite holiday card making projects and there are even more on this Tutorials page:
