Quilled Flowers Congratulatory Card
Here's an idea for a quilled thank you card that would work just as well for a birthday or to offer congratulations or sympathy. I made it for my dental hygienist who retired recently... it's kind of crazy, but I actually looked forward to appointments and wanted to thank her for always welcoming me with a genuine smile and lots of friendly chitchat.
Along with the card I gave her a pair of pretty Japanese paper, brass, and resin earrings handmade by Cléo Raksanyi of Cléo's Origami. The colorful pattern reminds me of celebratory fireworks, perfectly fitting for commemorating Fran's lengthy career. She loved them!
At first I had stamped a gold ink thank you sentiment on the card that slides into its tiny envelope, but it didn't show up too well. I then had the idea to use a glossy thank you sticker that Cléo had included in the package... its shiny metallic lettering looked lots more appealing. I love it when things fall into place like that!
