Extra Special Etsy Supplies for Paper Lovers
A little known hobby I probably shouldn't admit to... I frequently trawl Etsy looking for new and intriguing paper goodness. Whenever I come across something that you just don't see everywhere I add it to my list of things to share with all of you.
I think most any paper aficionado, artist or crafter would enjoy receiving these finds, starting off with a few things for
the holidays. If you're in the
U.S. and reading this post on or soon after its publish date, there is
still (a bit of) time left for you to place an order... all of the shops
are U.S. based.
Just yesterday I read this Washington Post article (paywall) about the new trend of black Christmas trees. Who knew? I suppose it makes sense in light of the angst 2020 has brought about, but the reporter points out that they are actually quite cool and modern from a design perspective.
I can picture such a tree in a sleek, all-white condo with a pile of gifts dressed in these black and white gift wrap sheets from Franky and J Designs in Massachusetts. Karla DeStefano is the illustrator of the tree and whimsical patterns; she creates coordinating gift tags and ornaments too.
If you're still in need of holiday cards, these woodland themed ones from Paper Hive in San Francisco remind me of an elegant paper cut design. You have the choice of white or kraft brown envelopes to go with each set of cards.
Mulberry Paper and More in Colorado has a gorgeous selection of specialty sheets and packs. I spent way too much time ogling Italian hand marbled papers... there are many to choose from.
You'll also find Italian crepe paper, the Rolls-Royce of paper flower making, along with origami paper, Lokta paper, Indian papers, mulberry paper, bark paper, and more.
I wasn't familiar with circular watercolor paper sheets, but they can be ordered from The Fine Print Paperie in Sacramento and would be ideal not just for paintings, but to use as an acid-free background for quilled mandalas. Risha has about a zillion more items on offer including most everything a planner addict would go wild over.... special pens, notebooks, journals and the like.
Hajosy Arts, owned by Cristina Hajosy in Boston, lists a variety of handmade books, journals, cards, prints, and papers. These small cuttings of colorful marbled papers would inspire any card maker, scrapbooker, or collage artist.
Same goes for her varied paste paper scrap packs.
Wondering what's up with this rather businesslike assortment of envelopes, tags, and bags? You'd be amazed at the number of paper enthusiasts I've come across who would go crazy over it for junk journaling, scrapbooking, and collage. They even trade them! Emily of 2 Little Birds Ephemera [edit: shop has closed] in Ohio is a great resource.
Also from her shop, decoupage fans will be whipping out their scissors before you can say Happy Holidays when they see this set of 25 pretty paper napkins, all different.
Lastly, a kit that's geared to paper and fabric lovers... Pam Granger Gale is a marbling expert and owner of MarbleMajik in North Carolina. Her beginning marbling kit looks like a great way to test the waters and have fun in the process while creating something beautiful. Along with the kit you'll receive a Marbling 101 video plus the option of a private Zoom class.
If you'd like to expand your horizons in 2021, Etsy rounded up a collection of all sorts of craft kits: DIY Kit Gift Guide.
All Things Paper is an AWIN (Etsy) affiliate.
If you make a purchase, I will receive a
