How to Wrap Tempting Gifts!
As one who truly enjoys wrapping presents, I'm already looking forward to the holidays because I'll be dressing the gifts I give in papers from Tuttle Publishing. Who knew that in addition to publishing a range of how-to art and craft books, Tuttle curates themed wrapping paper collections!
It's not quite the stretch it seems because Tuttle also sells high quality origami paper to go along with their many origami books. And then there's the fun fact that each gift wrap collection is actually packaged to look very much like a book.
The sheets are bound into a sturdy cover with perforations along the interior edge so they can be kept in pristine condition, yet they easily detach one by one when ready to use. I recommend taking your time to avoid tears (as in rips, hopefully not the crying kind, ha), but it is indeed doable.
The papers in the two collections I was sent, Red and Gold and Rainbow Watercolors, are an ideal weight for wrapping... not so heavy that it's difficult to make crisp folds at the corners, nor too thin so that it wrinkles easily. I like that the colors are rich and the papers have a nice sheen. Longtime readers will remember that I love a bit of metallic shine... well, the glint in the Red and Gold collection is beautifully printed with real gold Pantone ink.
Included in each book are inspiring photos of pretty packages wrapped in both fun and elegant ways. You'll find ideas for decorating
gifts with any number of small items you might
have lurking in your craft supplies. Example bows are shown made of a
variety of materials, clever gifts tags are cut from the
same paper, and ribbons are accented with beads and small
baubles.
And of course the papers can be used for craft projects as well as gift wrapping. Cover cardboard boxes to create desk accessories, make gift bags, layer onto handmade cards, and use for iris and tea bag folding.
In addition to the Red and Gold and Rainbow Watercolors collections, a Black and Gold, Cool Blue, and one that's composed of All Natural papers will be released on Amazon on October 22. All can be pre-ordered now.
There is also a Gold and Silver collection, perfect for the holidays, and Cherry Blossoms, Indonesian Batik, Japanese Kimono, Blue and White and Black and White for all occasions. Some of the books contain six sheets and others include twelve, each 'page' with a different pattern.
What a sweet selection of papers! I hadn't realized they offered gift wrap - thanks for sharing your insights on their books Ann!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not the only one to be late to the party! Just discovered they sell origami paper separately from their books too.
