The Paper Artist Collective - Oslo Pop-Up Shop
If stunning paper art gets your attention AND you happen to be in Oslo, Norway November 19-22, you're in for a treat. The Paper Artist Collective, an internet-based group, will be bringing together fifteen artists from eleven countries for its very first live pop-up shop.
Visitors will have the opportunity to choose from an array of holiday cards and gift items that feature professional paper art including paper cutting, paper sculpture and illustration... the images you see here are just a tempting sampling.
The shop venue, Is It So Collective, is located at Øvrefoss 14, 0554 in Oslo, and the four day event is sponsored by Norway Designs.
So what exactly is the Paper Artist Collective? The group was formed with the intention of bringing together worldwide paper creatives for exhibitions, events and collaborations.
It currently includes nearly sixty artists from twenty two countries. A member and photos of his or her unique work are presented each week via the @paperartistcollective Instagram feed, and each member has a feature page on the Collective's website.
Two artists who have never actually met in person (not that it matters in this day and age!), Kristine Braanen of Norway (@kristinebraanen) and Samantha Quinn of the UK (@prettypaperdreams) who is currently living in Australia, launched the group less than a year ago.
Members are selected based on their unique style and skill level. Samantha and Kristine are always excited to see artists who approach paper art in ways they could never have imagined.
If you are interested in being considered for inclusion in the group, simply tag your IG photos #paperartistcollective so they will be alerted to your art work.
The Oslo Pop Up Shop is the first public event of its kind for the group. A few more shows are already scheduled for the next nine
months, including a repeat pop-up shop in Oslo early in 2016.
An exhibition titled A Date with Data is planned for March 2016 in Cornwall UK, and a three day major exhibition will take place in Geneva next summer.
Kristine Braanen and several other members who are participating in the Oslo shop will be present during the show to answer questions about their work and the Collective in general.
