Quilled Cards and 3D Paper Pumpkin Patterns

I have lots of fun things to share with you... for starters, this trio of free-dimensional (haha, get it?) paper pumpkin patterns to launch your Halloween/Thanksgiving decorating. They're easy enough to make in an evening, either by hand or with a cutting machine. First, I'll introduce a new and excellent paper crafting class, or if you prefer, scroll down right away to grab the pumpkin files.

3D Paper Pumpkins DIY

Cecelia Louie is a paper artist and graphic designer whose work I've long admired. She recently filmed an e-class for creative powerhouse Craftsy... the title is Quilled and Sculpted Cards. Cecelia walks you step-by-step through the making of a variety of pretty cards and dimensional paper projects.

Quilled and Sculpted Cards Craftsy Class

I've had a chance to view the class, and just as expected, found Cecelia's creativity and attention to detail to be nothing short of remarkable. Not only that, but seeing her manipulate paper is a relaxing, zen-like experience... it's no wonder her blog and Etsy shop are named Paper Zen! You'll learn Cecelia's uniquely airy quilling method, layering and sculpting techniques that add dimension to die cuts, and how to make stylish crepe paper anemones, and paper daisies and roses to use on many types of cards and frames... seven lessons in all; each runs about 20 minutes.

Cecelia Louie - Craftsy Instructor

There's no question that watching someone who is actually hands-on with paper is the ideal way to learn. With Cecelia's guidance, you'll be making replicas of her designs in no time. Please note that most of the lessons utilize a die cut machine, such as a Cricut or Silhouette. That said, if you don't have a machine and are mainly interested in learning to quill, this class would still be a great way to learn from a pro.

Paper Daisy Lesson

With many new techniques under your belt, you're bound to experience increased confidence in your paper crafting and designing abilities.

Perhaps you feel all thumbs when it comes to gluing quilled scrolls in place? You'll see exactly how to achieve perfect results.

Quilling Lesson

Do you love the look of quilled snowflakes, but struggle to make them nicely balanced? Never fear... Cecelia's printable grid to the rescue.

But wait, there's more! (Forgive me, I don't mean to sound like an infomercial... it's just that I'm especially excited about this next part. :))

DIY Paper Pumpkin Threesome

Because not everyone will be able to win a free class, thoughtful Cecelia has designed a threesome (as in awesome) set of die cut pumpkin patterns that is free and has no end date. A special feature of the set is that the pumpkins can be cut by machine OR by hand, so even if you don't own a die cut machine, you'll be able to join in the fun.

You'll notice that the pumpkins are similar in technique to the Christmas tree card with Hershey's Kiss favor that is included in Cecelia's class. This was intentional as they serve as nice examples of the detailed way you'll learn during each class segment.

Dimensional Paper Tree

Craftsy offers a happiness guarantee on all of their classes - 100% satisfaction or a refund within 30 days of purchase. In addition, Cecelia is always available to answer questions from class participants via her blog. Oh! And she has a couple more cute DIY Halloween designs in her Etsy shop, Paper Zen.

Congratulations to KatheD, giveaway recipient!
