Review: MOO.com Luxe Business Cards
Because many who read this blog are artists, makers with online shops, and craft show artisans, I agreed to review MOO Luxe business cards. Each of us requires a card that represents our work in the best possible way, and quite honestly, the word Luxe had me at hello. The name alone sounds outstanding and I wanted to see if the cards live up to the hype.
The following is MOO's description of the complete Luxe line that launched this past summer and includes notecards, postcards, and minicards:
We combined award winning, Mohawk Superfine paper with our own Quadplex technology to make the ultimate business card. At triple the thickness and weight of most ordinary cards, Luxe boasts a rich seam of color within the layers of paper, and a stunning, tactile quality that you won’t find anywhere else on the web.
I was sent a promo code for 50 Luxe business cards. Every step of the ordering process went smoothly and MOO made it fun with humorous email updates. I was given an estimated date of arrival that turned out to be incorrect - my cards actually arrived five days early - how nice!
The cards arrived in a sturdy cardboard box that contained the white box with magnetic closures you see here. The purple ribbon with a MOO seal encircled the box, making it even more special.
In comparison to MOO Classic cards that offer either a velvety matte or gloss finish, Luxe cards have a matte finish with a subtle texture. The printing on my cards is crisp, clear, and the colors are true. I had chosen black as the inner core color to go with the lettering (red, blue, and white are also available) and was a little concerned it would look too dramatic against the quilled design, but I'm pleased. The stripe is not overpowering, but adds to the wow factor.
As much as I admire the professional quality of Luxe cards and their stellar presentation in the protective box that looks great on my desk, the next time I place an order I will choose MOO's Classic gloss business cards only because the delicate look of my quilled design doesn't necessarily call for such a substantial, handsome card.
MOO describes Luxe as the ultimate conversation starter and while that may be a touch dramatic, I have to agree that the luxurious look and feel of the card will cause it to stand out in a crowd. Recipients will think twice before putting it aside. Give MOO/Luxe a try... they make it easy and will even let you do a test run by sending a sample pack of ten cards that you've designed and personalized yourself.

But I'm getting a little ahead of myself... first, I submitted the card's design files as provided to me by Allison Patrick of the 3Rs blog at the MOO website. She had helped me with the redesign of this blog and so I called upon her again to
create my double-sided card. I knew I wanted it to match the site's header and was thrilled
when she chose to place a ghost impression of the same image on the reverse alongside my contact details. I never would have
thought of that, but I definitely like the subtle look. By the way, if you would rather personalize one of MOO's many card
templates instead of going with a completely custom design, that is also an option.
Another option I didn't utilize, but I'm sure will appeal to many... each card (up to 50) could have had a different image at no additional cost - quite remarkable!

ReplyDeleteGreat design! We loved our Moo Luxe cards out of the box. THEN we started handing them to people and noticed two interesting behaviors (maybe they are good PR things or maybe not). http://www.moonandowl.com/small-business-branding-messaging/moo-luxe-business-card-review-2015/
ReplyDeleteI had a similar experience with Jordan above, although i hope mine won't peel like his, you can see the digital printing though. There is a review of it here: https://fabriceleven.com/design/moo-luxe-review-business-cards/
