Quilled Wedding Invitation - Damask Style
Here's a commissioned wedding invitation I quilled recently. The wedding took place in June and if the printed invitation is any indication, I'm sure it was lovely. The couple just moved into a new home this week, so the gift of their invitation as a housewarming gift will remind them often of the special day.
I replicated portions of the damask-style pattern in white. The tiny turquoise coils included at the bottom and the deep brown undermat are nods to both the pattern and the cardstock folder (not shown) that enveloped the invitation. The white mat is actually not true white as it appears, but a warmer tone to match the silky inner envelope liner.
Because the client chose a ready-made frame, I had the double mat cut to the standard size of 11 x 14 inches. This works quite well for a 5 x 7 inch invitation and helps keep the cost down. I always forget just how expensive custom framing is until I have one priced out.
Have a wonderful weekend. It's felt like a return to summer here recently - simply perfect weather for a wedding - or anything really!
