Paper Blooms Book Review and Giveaway

Earlier this month I mentioned a brand new book - Paper Blooms: 25 Extraordinary Flowers to Make for Weddings, Celebrations & More.

I've now had a chance to see it in person thanks to author Jeffery Rudell and Lark Crafts, and snapped a few photos to give you an idea of the treasures inside. Just wait until you see the clever way he makes a sunflower... it caught my eye right away.

Jeffery designs paper creations that are stylishly simple with a bold dash of wow power. Each one of the 132 pages is bright and colorful, the projects are accompanied by clear instructions and photographs, and the necessary materials and tools are not exotic.

I like the way the book is arranged with general paper crafting information and the easiest flowers in the front. Beginners can start there and build their skills as they go. To give you an idea of the variety of flowers, you'll find cosmos, carnations, poppies, allium, dogwood blossoms, and poinsettias... there are even cattails, pumpkins and gourds.

Lark has offered to send the book to one lucky winner anywhere in the world, and also donated a second copy that I've forwarded to the North American Quilling Guild convention that will take place in South Bend, Indiana next month. Quilling doesn't feature heavily in this book, but there are a few elements, such as rolled coil centers and fringed petals, that will appeal to quillers.
