The Innovator - Mike Friton
Earlier this week I heard from videographer Tristan Stoch who made the beautiful video about HiiH Lights
in Portland that you might recall.
The Innovator from Cineastas on Vimeo.
He wanted to let us know about his newest video that shares the story of shoe innovator Mike Friton who worked for Nike for thirty years.
It's fascinating to see the ways origami, kirigami, pop-up books, and paper sculpture play a role in Mike's work and are behind the innovations that have become elements of modern athletic shoes. Who knew?!

I hope you'll have a few minutes to watch the video as it's quite fascinating.
What a wonderful short, and such creative intelligence. I'm going to use this in a future All Art Friday, and mention you, of course. Thanks, Ann!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed it, Maureen. Thanks for sharing.
DeleteSo interesting!!! As a card maker, I am always delighted to learn how people 'think outside the box'! I would never have thought paper arts and shoe creation go together...and right around the corner in my own state, OREGON!!!
