Irving Harper: Works in Paper - Book Giveaway
This giveaway has ended. Congratulations to Renata and Eric!
Let's get the week off to a flying start with a giveaway that's sure to appeal to paper art and/or mid-century modern design enthusiasts. Irving Harper Works in Paper is a new release from Skira Rizzoli that features a fascinating collection of paper sculptures created by industrial designer and artist Irving Harper.
© Irving Harper Works In Paper, Edited by Michael Maharam, Skira Rizzoli, 2013 |
Mr. Harper's name may not be familiar to you, but no doubt you're aware of his iconic Marshmallow sofa and Sunburst ball clock designs from the 50s and 60s. The story of their origin is included in the book, hailing from the years he worked for George Nelson Associates.
The 176 page hardcover features color and b&w images of almost 300 rarely seen paper objects that he created as a relaxing hobby over a forty year period. They grace his home in Rye, New York and have never been exhibited.
Read a fine review of the book on Design Sponge and also enjoy this visit with Mr. Harper and his wife Belle, as written by artist Matte Stephens. One more thing... don't miss this captivating short video in which Mr. Harper talks about his sculptures.
The giveaway has been limited by the publisher to two winners in the U.S., Canada, or U.K. To enter, simply leave a comment below. Be sure to leave a way for me to notify you within your comment if you don't have an active blog.
Winners will be chosen at random on Sunday, March 3 and will be announced here and on the All Things Paper Facebook page when they have been contacted. Good luck!
