Scherenschnitte - Nancy Michalak
Paper cutting has been featured here quite often, but this is the first time I've seen the cutting as an overlay atop a realistic background. Just look at the depth in this piece!
Created by Nancy Michalak of Maine, it's lovely the way she melds the colored landscape with the German folk art technique, scherenschnitte. The sheep still need shearing and the trees are leafing out... it must be early spring. Such detail, especially when you consider Nancy created the symmetrical image with just one piece of folded paper (and lots and lots of snips!)
Nancy's Etsy shop is NancyMichalak and her art is also shown on FineArtAmerica.
