Make: Striped Paper Lanterns
Honestly, I'm hesitant to post this handmade birthday card because I'm afraid it might wind up on the often-hilarious "Blog" of "Unnecessary" Quotation Marks - yes, there is such a thing.
Perhaps I hammered the light/lantern connection a little too hard? Oh well, I'll take the risk as I do want to show you this idea of using quilling paper glued flat instead of rolled or folded as usual. After gluing the strips on the lanterns, I used a paintbrush to coat them with a mixture of glue and water for a nice shine.
There's quite a bit of movement on the card as the lanterns are raised on dimensional foam dots and the tassels and metallic cords swing freely.
All in all, a cheerful card for our nation or anyone celebrating a birthday this time of year.
Have a wonderful weekend no matter where you call home!
