Origami Bonsai Kit - Review and Giveaway
Benjamin John Coleman of Etsy shop Benagami, who you might remember from this post, has a newly released origami kit from Tuttle Publishing.
Origami Bonsai is lovely, as are all of Ben's books, instructional DVDs, and paper creations. Having seen his attention to detail up close and personal, (Ben and I collaborated on a makigami pendant, one of the projects in the All Things Paper book) it's no stretch to say that the 64 page booklet and DVD videos that are included in the kit will show you how to create exquisite folded flowers and leaves like these:
There's even a sample blossom to help steer you in the right direction. The sheets of specially printed paper, designed by Ben, have a fine sheen and fold beautifully. If you have any experience with origami, you know how critical it is to use the correct weight paper.
As Ben says, his goal is to unleash the artist in you. Whether you prefer to learn from traditional diagrams or by watching his hands do the actual folding, this kit has you covered. Here's a example of the type of graceful botanical sculpture you'll be able to make.
Ben describes the contents of the new kit in the video below:
Leave a comment as your entry to win an Origami Bonsai kit from Tuttle Publishing. The worldwide giveaway will end on Sunday, September 22. Please include your email address or another way to be contacted within your comment. I'll contact the randomly chosen winner and announce the name here after the person has responded. Good luck!
Congratulations to Holly, winner of the kit from Tuttle Publishing.
I've always been fascinated with origami. I bought a desk calendar one time that taught you 1 a day using the previous day's paper. I now have a wall at work covered in origami!

ReplyDeleteI learned to make origami animals as a child with my mother,(then as is the norm forgot all about it). Learned all over again when my children wanted to give it a try. Then you've guessed it, I forgot all about it again. I have just started for the third time for my daughter's wedding. She wants an origami floral arrangement next to the seating arrangements at the reception. This could give me some great ideas if I was lucky enough to win.
