DIY Paper Icelandic Poppy Kit
Congratulations to the winners: Dale Anne Potter, Beth, and Amy Honious!
If you are new to this blog, you might not have yet met Jenny Jafek-Jones of The Crimson Poppy [edit: site no longer available]. She and I go back several years to when I first featured her beautiful crepe paper flowers and then we collaborated on a bridal hair accessory.

Another collaboration was for the newly released All Things Paper book... Jenny created the large crepe paper flower arrangement on the cover and shows how to make lilacs as one of the projects.
Knowing the quality of Jenny's work and the care she takes in detailing tutorial steps, I was delighted to see she now offers DIY flower making kits. (Feb 2018 update: not available at the present time.) How nice to have everything at your fingertips to get starting creating beautiful crepe paper flowers right away.
She also has a variety of kits for making cute sculptural flower favor boxes. [not available]
In other Crimson Poppy news, Jenny moved from Oklahoma to Texas this past year and plans to host flower making classes in her new studio. I would love to attend a class at this pretty oasis!
Earlier this year Jenny created an amazing flower installation for the window of L'Occitane's New York City flagship store. The picture is deceiving... the largest daisy is 8 feet wide!
Now about the giveaway... Jenny would like to send an Icelandic Poppy Kit to three readers. To enter, leave a comment below and you must sign up for The Crimson Poppy's sporadic newsletter. As an extra entry, pin any photo from The Crimson Poppy website and leave a separate comment with the link to your pin. This is primarily a U.S. giveaway, but international readers may enter too. Note that Jenny will request you pay the difference in shipping to your country vs. the standard U.S. shipping rate.
Giveaway ends on Sunday, June 30th. Winners will be chosen by a random number generator and the names will be listed at the top of this post after each person has been contacted. Winners will be able to select a poppy color.
Actually, everyone wins because Jenny is offering a 20% DIY Kit discount to All Things Paper readers from today through July 8, 2013. Use coupon code ATP20 at checkout.
All other Crimson Poppy items, including custom orders, are 10% off through July 8, 2013. Use coupon code ATP10 at checkout for non-kit orders.
Good luck!
Just joined the mailing list! Awesome flowers!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! How is it an Icelandic poppy?
ReplyDeleteGreat question, Sam!
DeleteIceland poppies bloom in softer, pastel colors and have a yellow stamen ring around the center; Oriental poppies are bold jewel-tones with a black center and black markings on the petals.
Iceland poppies have delicate, curving stems while Orientals are usually straight and prickly; this makes them perfect for arrangements with a just-picked look or less structured bridal bouquets. Iceland poppies are VERY popular in weddings these days.
Hope that helps! :)
